There are many devices available today that will record your ride and give you the ability to download a GPX file. Apps are available for iPhone, Android, Windows, Blackberry and others. For those without a GPS enabled smart phone, an ordinary GPS device like a Garmin or Magellan will also perform the same function.
The following are a few apps you can use on your smartphone to get you on your way.
Please refer to the smartphone application or gps device instruction manual for instructions on exporting the data to a GPX file.
Ride your route to record the track and create a GPX file. Take photos along the way if you wish (photos must have coordinates in order to be displayed as points along the route). Most GPS enabled smart phones will take photos with coordinates embedded.
Download the route GPX and any photos to your PC. If you are sending more than one file, please compress them together in a single zip file before uploading. On a Windows PC, place all the files in a single folder. Right click on the folder, select Send to, then select Compressed (zipped) folder. This will compress the folder so that it's size is smaller. In the image below, a new folder called newtrail.zip would be created. That is the folder to upload.
NOTE: The total file size cannot exceed 2MB. If you are sending pictures, please keep them small.
Using the form below, add a description, directions, contact information (optional), attach the GPX file or folder, enter the Captcha, and click Submit. We will take it from there.
