First off this is an excellent trail with a little bit of everything to get your thrills. Leaving south from the trail head expect varying grades of ascents and descents. The trail
flows niceley and once you start to reach the summit of the South CDT (Continental Divide Trail) you can expect some spectacaular views from all directions. The last few miles of the South CDT is probably
the most difficult, the switchbacks to the summit are very gradual and with only a few tight spots. Once you reach the summit you'll head down some great downhill with switchbacks leading you down to Pipestone
Pass. Be sure to look for the intersection to the Beaver Ponds Trail, don't worry about missing the turn it is marked well. Once you are on the beaver ponds trail you can have some fun on the natural rock features
on the trail. On the next marked trail you'll want head down the Black Tail Ridge Trail, this will lead you to the parking lot. The last two miles on the Black Tail Ridge offers a nice smooth downhill to end your ride.
