HURL Elkhorn Endurance Runs
Saturday, August 03, 2013 - Saturday, August 03, 2013
In 1989, the first running of the Elkhorn Mountain Endurance Run took place on the Elkhorn Mountain trails just south of Montana City, Montana. The original race included a 100K (62.2 mile) trail race through the Elkhorn Mountains. The HURL Elkhorn Endurance Runs now include 50 mile, 50 kilometer and 23 kilometer distances. The 50 mile course takes runners through the historic ghost town of Elkhorn, past the town's cemetery and around a high mountain lake. The race courses include mostly trails with some primitive and some maintained dirt Forest Service Roads, challenging terrain and some incredible scenery.
Proceeds from the race are donated to the Capital City Amateur Radio Club, Elkhorn Search and Rescue, and Prickly Pear Land Trust.
