Upper Canyon Outfitters (UCO) is a family operated ranch located in the upper Ruby Valley. The ranch is beautifully nestled between three mountain ranges, with the Ruby River meandering through the property. We are dedicated to providing unparalleled, successful trips for each of our guests.

If you would like to get away from the crowds and see something everybody else doesn't than you will enjoy the solitude of the Ruby Valley. When you seek these out-of-the-way destinations you will find you have a flexible schedule. If the fishing is particularly spot, or you are having the time of your life watching a herd of elk in a remote basin, you don't want to have to feel like being rushed off because you need to be somewhere else at a given time. After all, getting away from schedules is part of the reason for heading out west.

Our fly fishing guests have the exclusive use of over two miles of the Ruby River and a private spring fed pond on the ranch. Full time fly fishing guides are available at the ranch for instruction, float trips, walk/wade trips and information on water conditions. Our fishing guest enjoy miles of fishing opportunities from tributary high mountains streams, to the limestone Ruby River or the larger Madison and Jefferson River - you will have a hard time deciding where to fish next.

Horseback riding adventures start right at the ranch and offer you a splendid way to see and experience the spectacular mountains surrounding our ranch. Upper Canyon Outfitters offers a variety of horse activities - whether a novice rider or horse enthusiast, the ranch accommodates all guests with a ride to suit their skill levels.

You can pamper yourself by staying in our impressive lodge which consists of five private guest rooms with private bathrooms, large dining area, and a relaxing living area with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Or you might like staying in one of our spacious log cabins which are complete with kitchens and private bathrooms. Hearty ranch meals are prepared fresh daily and served family style in the lodge. If you are tired of being your own personal chef, cabin guests are welcome to join us at the lodge.

GUIDED AND UNGUIDED HUNTS. Because of our location in the Beaverhead-National Forest, we can offer a number of different types of hunts. We offer both guided and unguided hunts, for elk, mule deer, white-tail deer, and antelope. We are professional outfitters and guides, licensed with the State of Montana. All our guided hunts are five days, one guide for every two hunters. Our guided hunters do well on both our National Forest and private ranch hunts. On our unguided hunts, we show you the best access into an area and check with you each day on how effective the area was. Archery hunts are a specialty and our hunters do well. We take all the worry out of applying for your Mt. State Hunting License. We will help you long before you arrive in Montana and we are here to stay to help you long after you leave Montana.
