Second annual celebration is a partnership between local businesses, non-profits, breweries, distributors, and craft beer enthusiasts to celebrate and raise awareness of Helena and Montana craft brews. Beer education includes classes on appreciation, how to cook with beer, pairing preferences, and hop-growing. Blind beer tasting competitions, beer-themed movies and beer trivia round out the fun. Two events launch festivities: Bacon, Eggs and Kegs, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. May 13 at Lewis and Clark Brewery, includes brunch, beer and entertainment by Swing Crew ($30; call 422-0296 or visit www.funeventsmt.com). The Don’t Fence Me in Party kicks off at 12:30 p.m. at Blackfoot River Brewery, which debuts its new E-Trail Pale Ale; the party follows the annual Prickly Pear Trail Run, 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Pioneer Park (visit pricklypearlt.org). The event culminates in Ales for Trails, 3:30-9 p.m. at Pioneer Park.
