State Parks in Southwest Montana: Clark’s Lookout

Projecting above the dense cottonwoods and willows along the Beaverhead River, this rock outcropping provided an opportunity for members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to view the route ahead. Captain William Clark climbed this hill overlooking the Beaverhead River to plan their continuing journey. You can drive to the site located just 1 mile north of Dillon off Highway 91, park right next to it, and walk the trail to the top.
