Southwest Montana Bakeries

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s how important it is to shop local. With Christmas right around the corner, we are all too privvy that the holidays are not complete unless they include countless stomach aches brought on by the consumption of far too many baked goods. Luckily for us, Southwest Montana is full of  local bakeries waiting for visitors to indulge in their sweet treats!

Mick and Goldie’s Bakery, located in historic uptown Butte, is filled with delicious desserts made from scratch. Visitors can expect a daily menu filled with sweet treats and a few breakfast sandwich options, along with a spattering of wheat free-options. Mick and Goldie’s is open Tuesdays through Saturdays for people to stop in!

Boomerang Bakery, a local Deer Lodge favorite, is known for its flaky pastries and homemade donuts. Visitors may also find some coffee or hot chocolate to drink, or some pasties perfect for lunch or dinner in the bakery. Boomerang Bakery is only open Tuesday through Friday, so make sure to check their Facebook page for hours before planning your visit. 

Sherry’s Homestyle Bakery is known for serving more than just sweet treats. Located on East Broadway Street in Philipsburg, visitors will be sure to find a collection of food options, from enchiladas and beef pasties to donuts and breakfast sandwiches. This bakery also offers customers the opportunity to grab some Christmas gifts, including aprons and table centerpieces. 

Firefly Cafe in Anaconda is perfect for those looking to get some “real food” with their dessert. Located on Main Street, Firefly offers visitors the option to get soup, sandwiches, salads, drinks, and a small variety of baked goods. Stop in on Tuesday through Saturday to try out the food for yourself!

Cottontop Pastries is a specialty bakery located in Reeder’s Alley in Helena. Cottontop is known for offering a variety of specialty desserts. The menu at this small Helena bakery changes weekly, so make sure to check the website for the new specials before visiting. Cottontop is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, and their treats sell out quickly, so think about planning your stop ahead of time. 

Park Avenue Bakery, located on Park Avenue has been a Helena staple for the past 25 years. Visitors often travel to Park Avenue for their wide range of fresh breads and delicate desserts. Locals can commonly be found visiting the bakery for a slice of pizza and a cookie during the lunch hour. The bakery is open seven days a week, so stop by anytime to get your fill of baked goods. 

Vanilla Bean Bakery is known for serving fluffy cakes and cupcakes, breakfast meals, soup of the day, and a wide variety of baked treats. Visitors will be happy to know they can also pick up an espresso drink with whatever sweet treat they end up with. Vanilla Bean is open Monday through Saturday for walk-ins and preorders.
