We invite you to a challenging and exciting mountain bike ride covering 38 or 76 miles of breathtaking scenery in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. On the York 38 Special or the Spirit of 76, you will gain 3,000 vertical feet from the lowest point of the ride (Nelson), traveling mainly on dirt roads and single track.
For families and anyone who can’t imagine riding 38 miles but wants to be out & about joining the fun, there's also the Lucky 13 Ride -- 6 miles to Vigilante Campground and back along beautiful Trout Creek Canyon.
There will be numerous rest stops with water, sports drinks, fruit & snacks, and homemade baked goods! Bike mechanics and EMTs are available on the course.
Our primary goal is to encourage riders (of all levels) to get out and on the trails of the beautiful Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, enjoy a day of endurance cycling, and fall in love with this local event! Whether you hope to beat a friend or last year’s time, finish among the top 5, or be proud as can be of having finished with enough energy to enjoy the complimentary burger at the York Bar, we can’t wait to see you on August 22, 2020!
Our secondary goal is to raise funds for the York Volunteer Fire Department, a rural, all-volunteer fire department providing emergency and fire service to a 200 square mile area 20 miles NE of Helena within the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. So whether you live in York, Eldorado, Nelson, and American Bar, or are out and about enjoying our public lands and find yourself in need of emergency services, the York Fire Rescue is there to help!
