Ski Montana

If you are still casting around for things to do this weekend, it’s going to be a fantastic time to hit the slopes. The cold and sunny weather has kept Southwest Montana’s ski hills soft and fast, and Saturday is going to be another bright day. Perfect for spending all day skiing.

Great Divide | Helena, Montana

If, unlike me, you are a planner who already has this weekend booked, then I have equally great news. There’s more snow in the forecast across the region on Sunday and early next week, and then it is back to the sunny and cold weather by the end of the week. The mountains are calling, the only question is, when are you going to go?

Also, if downhill is not quite your speed, be sure to check out Southwest Montana’s awesome cross-country skiing areas.

Southwest Montana’s amazing ski hills are:

Discovery on Georgetown Lake between Anaconda and Philipsburg, and with easy access from Butte, Disco is one of the regions biggest ski areas.

Lost Trail at the Junction of US-93 and MT-43, Lost Trail is about 2 hours from Dillon or Missoula, and about an hour from Salmon, Idaho. It’s an easy day trip from those “big cities” but why not make a weekend of it and stay in Hamilton or Wisdom?

Great Divide in Marysville, 20 miles north of Helena, Great Divide is an easy half hour from the state’s capital. Also, on Fridays, the hill is open until 9pm, the flood-lit runs make for an experience you won’t forget.

Maverick Mountain 40 miles west of Dillon, Maverick Mountain sits high up in some of the most scenic mountains of Southwest Montana, and is perfect for a weekend retreat or day trip from Dillon.
