Get ready to rock this holiday season! Presented by Cohesion Dance Project, Shira Greenberg’s Nutcracker on the Rocks brings a high-voltage twist to the beloved classic. This electrifying production pulses with iconic hits from Janis Joplin, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, and more.

Featuring a powerhouse mix of dancers, dance styles, and even a roaring Harley Davidson on stage, this rock-‘n’-roll reimagining has become one of Helena’s favorite holiday traditions. Guest artists join a dynamic cast of community and professional dancers of all ages and abilities for a thrilling, decade-spanning journey through music and movement.

Created and choreographed by Shira Greenberg, Nutcracker on the Rocks originated in Albuquerque, NM, where it captivated audiences for 20 years. Today, Helena proudly stands as the only city in the world where this groundbreaking production continues to be performed.

The 2025 cast features nearly 60 local dancers performing alongside professional guest artists from across the globe. Local leads include Harley Hollibaugh as Marie and Jessica Partridge as Madame Drosselmeier. Returning visiting artists include Patrick Higgins (fresh from his performance as Bert in Mary Poppins at Grandstreet Theater) and Helena’s own Nina Murphy, back after four years performing in London.
