Beaverhead County Museum has been collecting, preserving, displaying and interpreting local history since the 1930s. The museum is housed in a log building complex in downtown Dillon. Our friendly volunteers will greet you at the door and offer a wealth of information. Visitors will see an authentic homesteader's cabin, the first flush toilet outhouse in Dillon, mining and agriculture equipment. Enjoy a picnic in our pavilion. Additions to the museum include a Lewis and Clark diorama, the Union Pacific Depot built in 1909 houses Ride the Rails railroad exhibit, Indigenous People of Southwest Montana and Archaeological history, Audubon Southwest Bird exhibit, Old Depot Theatre, a medicine tree, one-room schoolhouse and a Geology & Mining exhibit. We have an extensive archive for research about the area including family research.
