Pioneer Mountain Lodge is located in one of Montana's best outdoor recreational areas. The lodge will spaciously accommodate large groups for wedding and other special occasions. All rooms contain full kitchens with other modern conveniences but still retain the western charm of the Big Hole Valley.
In this western community, you might possibly see a cattle drive, or maybe your interest is western history. Nearby is the Big Hole Battlefield where Colonel John Gibbons and 163 men of the 7th Infantry and 34 Bitterroot Volunteers had orders to stop the non-treaty Nez Perce and return them to Idaho. The 800 Nez Perce men, women, and children had fled their native lands when being forced onto a smaller reservations. Or visit Bannack State Park, one of the best preserved of all Montana ghost towns and first Territorial Capital of Montana.
There are many activities in enjoy in each season:
Spring/Summer: raft one of the best blue ribbon trout fishing river, hike or mountain bike into different lakes for an awe inspiring view of the mountains. Explore on 4-wheelers or just enjoy a day by a quiet mountain stream.
Fall: This is a beautiful, quiet time of the year to explore the valley. Then hunting season starts for you sportsmen. There are many public lands.
Winter: The lodge is 26 miles from Lost Trail Ski Area, which offers downhill and cross country skiing. Furthermore, there are numerous snowmobile trails for snow enthusiast. Pioneer lodge has ski packages and excellent winter rates for these activities. Plus, there is a laundromat to help keep you dry.
