An Ri Ra is the Montana Irish Festival that promotes Irish culture and will be held in Butte for the 18th year. Admissions if Free. An Ri Ra is a production of the Montana Gaelic Cultural Society. The festival is put on by an entirely volunteer organization. The festival is held on a very unique venue. The Original Mine yard. The mine yard has been converted into a public park by Butte /Silver Parks and Recreation Dept. with the Head frame and other mine buildings still on site. The festival brings in performers from around the country and Ireland in both traditional and contemporary Irish music along with Irish dance groups. There will also be Irish related workshops and an author series. There is food and craft vendors on site. The festival will start on Friday August 12th at 3 pm and goes until 11pm. On Saturday music will start at 12 noon and goes till 11pm. There is no music on Sunday. We do have an outdoor Catholic Mass on Sunday. The festival is solely funded through corporate and individual donations, raffles and grants from the local government. I would suggest bringing a lawn chair and an umbrella. So come join us this August here in Butte America. An Ri Ra is back.
For information on lodging and camping during the festival contact the Butte-Silver Bow Chamber Of commerce at 406-723-3177.
