Celebrate Labor Day weekend with Much Ado About Nothing in Butte at Stodden Park on Monday, September 7 at 5:30 PM.
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks returns for its 54th season, continuing its mission of bringing free, live theatre to communities across Montana and beyond from June through September. Performed outdoors under the open sky, this longstanding tradition invites audiences of all ages to gather for evenings of storytelling, connection, and shared cultural experience.
This season features two of Shakespeare’s most enduring plays -The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing - as the company travels to more than 60 towns across five states. Each performance offers a distinctive and memorable experience set against the sweeping backdrop of Montana’s Big Sky.
This summer’s Much Ado About Nothing explores the joys and complexities of love, the fragility of reputation, and the powerful role of community in shaping perception. Set in the aftermath of war, the play follows returning soldiers and their gracious hosts as they navigate romance, clever schemes, and shifting perspectives. Through its vibrant cast of characters, Shakespeare shows how easily misunderstandings can take hold - and how honesty, resilience, and compassion can ultimately restore trust and connection.
