Continental Divide Trail Communities Along The Trail Wise River, Montana

At the meeting of the Big Hole and Wise Rivers, the small community of Wise River sits on Highway 43, forty miles east of Wisdom. The town is another popular access point for anglers fishing the Big Hole, or for those heading up the smaller Wise River. It is also the gateway to the beautiful Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway.

How to Access the Continental Divide Trail From Wise River

At just over an hour from the Continental Divide at Chief Joseph Pass, visitors to Wise River will be rewarded by the access to great hiking offered along the CDT at Chief Joseph Pass, as well as around the Big Hole National Battlefield or in the Pioneer Mountains.

Things to do While Visiting Wise River, Montana

While in the Wise River area, there is so much to explore! The start of the Pioneer Scenic Byway is in the center of town and the Big Hole National Battlefield is just down the highway. Wise River, like much of Southwest Montana, is known as an incredible blue ribbon fishing destination along the Big Hole River.
