With performances and demonstrations from over 200 musicians, dancers and craftspeople from across the nation, the Montana Folk Festival is one of the largest FREE outdoor music festivals in the Northwest. The festival takes place in the largest U.S. National Historic Landmark District, Uptown Butte. Nestled among the historic headframes, a reminder of Butte's incredible mining history, sit the six featured stages of the event.
Spend some time at the original stage which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Butte, then wander over to the dance pavilion where you will find dozens of people grooving to the music. Grab a bite to eat at one of the local vendors (over 30 options), stop by the Montana Folklife Area, and then head on over to the marketplace! If you are visiting with kids, there is a Family stage that features performances of interest to all ages!
With a little bit of everything, you are sure to enjoy your trip to Butte for one of the most unique music festivals this side of the Mississippi.
Between 2008 and 2010 (for its 70th -72nd presentations), the National Folk Festival was presented in Butte. With incredible popularity, organizers chose to extend the festival and continue providing a unique opportunity to Montana residents and tourists.
Join us for an incredible weekend of culture, music, dancing and more!
