Formed in October, 1996, the Twin Bridges Historical Association was created , the mission to conserve, restore, and put on display objects and artifacts relating to the history of our area. To preserve the history and indigenous culture, Native Americans, early pioneers and of mining and agriculture, and to protect the integrity of the local communities way of life.
With this dream the Reid building, one of the earliest commercial structures built in Twin Bridges was purchased in 1997. The rest is history in its self. Years of renovation to bring the 1917 building to code, continued fund raising to replace the roof and rewire the structure and meet handicap access...and over thousands of volunteer hours.
Finally the doors opened for the public in June of 1999. The building is now renovated, full of historical artifacts and documents, and it continues its mission, with all volunteer labor. Please stop by and visit, we are on the historic travel corridor 30 miles from Virginia City. We think you will be pleasantly surprised. The museum is free of charge and exists on donations only.
