Brewery Follies at the Mother Lode Theatre

The Brewery Follies is all about having fun. Our show is risqué, bawdy and unapologetically irreverent, with plenty of social and political commentary along the way. There’s no violence, no nudity and very little use of the most offensive “four-letter words.” That said, we’ve never claimed to be squeaky clean - and we certainly aren’t trying to be a traditional family show.

That’s part of what makes us different. If a president, politician or public figure gives us something to joke about, you can bet we’ll take the opportunity. Our humor often relies on double entendres, clever turns of phrase, a suggestive gesture or simply a well-timed raised eyebrow. We may not always say the “four-letter word,” but we’re perfectly happy to joke about what it means.

We’re often asked, “Can we bring our kids?”

The answer depends on you, your parenting style and what you’re comfortable having your kids see and hear. If your family regularly watches shows like Family Guy, Desperate Housewives, Saturday Night Live or reality television, chances are you won’t encounter anything at The Brewery Follies that will completely shock you.

Kids are welcome, but parental discretion is advised. The bigger consideration may be the atmosphere: adults drinking beer, laughing loudly and occasionally being invited to make complete fools of themselves. If that sounds like an environment your family is comfortable with, come on in and enjoy the show.

So, what exactly is The Brewery Follies?

It’s an absurd, wacky, zany, fun-filled contemporary comedy revue with music, presented in a lively cabaret atmosphere. Expect biting parody, naughty political and social satire and plenty of opportunities to forget about the everyday world - and leave political correctness at the door.

Come ready to let your hair down, laugh a little too loudly and have a ball.
