201 S Last Chance Gulch St, Helena, MT
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks returns for its 54th season, once again bringing the joy of live theatre to communities across Montana and beyond from June through September. Performed outdoors and free to attend, this beloved summer tradition invites audiences of all ages to gather for evenings of storytelling, connection, and shared culture.
This season features two of Shakespeare’s most celebrated plays -The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing - as the company tours more than 60 towns across five states. Each performance offers a memorable experience set beneath Montana’s expansive Big Sky.
This summer’s production of Much Ado About Nothing delves into the pleasures and uncertainties of love, reputation, and the influence of community in shaping perception. Set in the aftermath of war, the lively comedy follows returning soldiers and their welcoming hosts as they navigate romance, clever deceptions, and shifting perspectives. Through its dynamic cast of characters, Shakespeare highlights how easily misunderstandings arise - and how resilience, honesty, and compassion can ultimately rebuild trust and connection.
Directed by Johamy Morales.
Be sure to make it a double header this week in Helena and enjoy the live performance of The Merchant of Venice on August 4.
