All motorized uses are allowed but a high clearance is required. The trail is ideal for off-highway adventure. If you desire the calm and solitude of a lonesome trail this probably isn't the place for you but the upper reaches offer a more natural setting. Deer and elk frequent the area and an occasional bear or moose wander through here. After your ride or hike, Twin Lakes can offer good fishing opportunities.

Hiking during the summer, the trail passes through several marshy spots enroute to the lakes. These bogs might be difficult to negotiate for the inexperienced trail bike or ATV rider. Most of the trail climbs at a gradual grade, with a steep pitch the last half-mile up to the lake. Much of the rocky North Meadow Creek Trail resembles a dry creek bed. In reality, these trails are the remnants of early mining roads as evidenced by the large clearing widths and wheel ruts.

Snowmobiling during the winter, the North Meadow Creek/Kid Mountain Snowmobile Trail is groomed under agreement with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Virginia City Snowmobile Club. Loop options exist. Lakes and historic mine structures. Caution is advised on this trail system due to narrow trails and oncoming traffic. Please maintain prudent speeds and watch for others. As always, when enjoying outdoor activities in winter, visitors should be aware of and prepared for avalanche emergencies.

Approximately 2 miles up, the trail junctions with the Kid Mountain Trail 338. This option makes a loop around Kid Mountain and ties back in with the North Meadow Creek Trail. It is a steep, rocky climb, and not for the novice motorcycle or ATV rider.

Motorized use is not permitted beyond 300 feet of any of these trails except for snowmobiles in winter.

For hiking this is moderate in difficulty and heavy for usage. The length is 11 miles round trip. During the winter the snowmobile trail is marked and groomed.
