38 Special - 50 Year Legacy

.38 Special is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1974 by Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes. Famous for their fusion of Southern rock and arena rock, they rose to prominence in the 1980s with hit songs like “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” and “Second Chance.”

Their breakthrough came with the 1981 album Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, which included the hit single “Hold On Loosely.” The following year, their album Special Forces delivered the Top 10 hit “Caught Up in You” and reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200— their highest-charting studio album to date.

With more than 15 albums released over the decades, .38 Special remains active, touring extensively and performing in over 100 cities each year. Their lasting success reflects their energetic live shows and timeless rock sound.
