Main Street, Whitehall, MT
Whitehall’s Main Street Green (next to the Star Theatre) sets the stage for Much Ado About Nothing on Tuesday, September 1 at 5:00 PM.
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks launches its 54th season this summer, once again delivering free, live theatre to communities across Montana and beyond from June through September. Presented outdoors beneath the open sky, this treasured tradition welcomes audiences of all ages to gather for evenings of storytelling, connection, and shared cultural experience.
This year’s tour features two of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays - The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing - with performances in more than 60 towns across five states. Each stop offers a unique theatrical experience set against the sweeping beauty of Montana’s Big Sky.
In Much Ado About Nothing, audiences will encounter a lively exploration of love, reputation, and the influence of community. Set after a period of conflict, the story follows returning soldiers and their generous hosts as they become swept up in romance, playful deception, and shifting perceptions. With wit and warmth, Shakespeare reveals how easily misunderstandings arise - and how honesty, resilience, and compassion can help rebuild trust and connection.
Directed by Johamy Morales.
If you can't get enough of Shakespeare, head to Boulder on September 2 for The Merchant of Venice.
