2-4 pm, Saturday May 25th at the Covellite Theatre: (let us know you're joining: https://www.facebook.com/events/1616938432388705) Theremin Art Workshop: “Drawing Sound.” Join artist and Theremin scholar, Marla Goodman for a 2-hour workshop that transforms sound into imagery and back again! Goodman will demonstrate her use of graphical scores and graphical synthesis to transform pictures into sound. Participants can then create and interpret their own visual soundscapes using provided art materials, Theremin, and the Virtual ANS Synthesizer. (Bring your smart device to use the synthesizer app.) Registration is limited to 16 participants ages 16+ or 10+ with guardian.
Performance Event at 7pm on May 25th: “Dolly Vinyl, Thereminist: Misremembered Memoirs and Untouched Sounds,” is a multimedia presentation of storytelling, projections and live Theremin music, with Goodman in the persona of Thereminist Dolly Vinyl. Her live 1-hour show features wildly eclectic and visually enthralling selections, threaded on the narrative of her illustrious life as second fiddle in a now defunct “Fraternal Twin Thereminist” act. Miss Vinyl’s repertoire includes Theremin renditions of musical styles ranging from Sci-Fi, Experimental and Classical to Country Western.
After Party: Meet the artist and try your own hand at playing the Theremin after the show at 51 Below Speakeasy, below the Miner's Hotel, 53 West Park St. Butte
