John Roberts y Pan Blanco - Folk Festival Afterparty

Channeling experiences on 6 continents and all 50 of the United States, John Roberts y Pan Blanco is an original ensemble that is designed to make the audience move. Many years of touring, recording, and performing with West African, Funk, Soul, Salsa, Jaz,z and R&B ensembles have led to this project. With vocals in Spanish, English and Portuguese, John Roberts y Pan Blanco is melding high energy, danceable Funk, African and Salsa grooves with lilting guajiras and boleros, all aimed at sharing musical diversity with the audience.

John Roberts y Pan Blanco began playing the piano at the age of 5 while living on an isolated ranch in southeastern Montana. There was no TV, but there was a piano. At age 11, he began learning trombone in the grade school band. After graduating from Montana State University-Billings with a BA in Music Performance, John moved to Los Angeles to earn his Master of Fine Arts in Western Orchestral Performance from California Institute of the Arts.

The family-friendly band is continuously booking for festivals, concerts, club dates and clinics. We have a particular love for masterclasses and outreach clinics! John is active in performing and studio scenes as a band leader, studio musician, and composer. His recent album, “Soul Ain’t Got No Color”was recorded partially in Santiagode Cuba.Like his first record, “Soul y Pimienta” it was a collaboration between Cuban, Congolese, Los Angeles and Montana artists.
